As the present world progresses, society is opting to systems with higher efficiencies to cater to the loss of power and to reduce the usage of natural fuels which is in the brink of depletion. However, technologies involving renewable sources are becoming more common. Thermophotovoltaic known as (TPV) could be considered to generate electricity in the near future in addition or in lieu of the current technologies that use renewable sources. Several constraints like cost and efficiency of the TPV cell exist in the research and utilization of TPV technology. To overcome these issues, characterization of a TPV cell is important to improve the cell’s efficiency. This experiment presents ways to improve the efficiency of InGaAs with a cut-off wavelength of 2.6 μm. Electrical and optical parameters which result in dark current and photocurrent were obtained and analyzed using distinct experimental setups.
