Description
Summary:The objectives of this project are to synthesis three different types of plant based biolubricant such as palm oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil. Besides, this project also aiming to investigate the effect of different plant oils on the biolubricant properties. The usage of lubricant widely very high in percentage and the effect of non-eco-friendly properties of lubricant leads towards this findings in order to reduce the harmful substance and making it renewable and recyclable. Hence, to achieve the objectives, the biolubricant being produce by using transesterification method that required a specific alcohol and catalyst with fixed parameters in order to fulfil the requirement in producing the biolubicant. As for the transesterification process were divide into two stages which the first stage was to produce methyl esters which require to be at 60C and for 1 hour duration placed on the hot plate stirrer. Next, for the second stage of the transesterification was to produce biolubricant with 120C for 4 hours duration using fume hood place inside oil bath. The findings in this report was the biodiesel produced from the three different types of plant oil did followed the requirements needed in order to fulfil the biodiesel properties. Moreover, the palm oil biolubricant had matches density and viscosity index as other reference journals and also the commercial lubricant. In the nutshells, the biolubricant analysis gave a good feedback in terms of the result and the substance produced
