Description
Summary:This thesis reports are about the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling of the sediment transport in the dam reservoir. Sediment is the solid particle that formed from the deposition of the silt and rocks in the passage. The presence of sediment has given many disadvantages to the functionality of the reservoir as the major supply of water. This research was carried out to perform an analysis to a model that has replaced the geometry of the reservoir by evaluating the sediment transport within dam reservoir by using CAD and CFD software. This research will be combination of the sedimentation with the CFD software to simulate the flow of fluid with and without sediment through a tank storage as a reservoir. This type of analysis could be able to predict the amount of sediment and its sediment settlement potential within the tank storage. So that, with the results, efficient reservoir management can be determined in order to minimize sediment potential and control plan for new development. A few procedures have been carried out such as designing a tank storage of reservoir geometry and doing the simulation of the water flow in the tank for cases of with sediment and without sediment. Finally, the result of the simulation for both cases have been obtained by running the simulation according to the boundary condition that have been set up.
