Studies for MR fluid device has also been researched such as MR dampers, MR valves, MR brakes, MR mounts, and so on. In this thesis, the comparison for original damper and MR fluid damper is one of the main focus. The carrier fluid has been benchmarked in order to decide which is the best carrier fluid to be carried on in this experiment. There are two (2) types of experiment conducted for this project which are, sedimentation test and static test. The purpose of sedimentation test is to study the different composition of MR fluid and decide which is the best MR fluid mixture. For this experiment, several specimens have been prepared by varying the composition of carrier oil and Carbonyl Iron Particle while the additive composition is fixed. Static test is conducted in order to study the performance of original damper and MR damper. Permanent magnet is utilized in order to generate a magnetic field as opposed to an electromagnet due to safety precaution.
