One of the ways perhaps useful to harvest the dynamic energy and converts it into electrical energy is using the speed bump. Although, this speed bump is used to limit the speed of the vehicles on the road, but if there are number of vehicles pass by the speed bump, then it will be useful to collect all the dynamic energies and convert them into electrical energy. This research project aims to develop a small prototype to demonstrate how a simple speed bump concept that can be used to collect the dynamic energy from the vehicle and convert the energy into electrical energy. The concept developed basically is using a rolling method, where the roller (the part that can rotates when vehicle's wheel get contact across it) attached to the generator's shaft. Once the generator shaft rotates, the generator generates electricity immediately. The generation of electricity is proportional to the speed of vehicle's wheel and pressure applied to roll the surface of the roller. The higher the speed of the vehicle wheel, the larger the electricity can be generated. To show there is electricity generated, a simple LED is connected at the output of the generator. The design issues regarding the applied force from 50 N to 100 N and pressure 4.549 kPa across the speed bump are the key parameters in this research project.
