Summary: | This thesis consists of designing an autonomous pick and place robot. The main objective includes producing a design that can be used to optimize the efficiency of the robot. When efficiency can be achieved, the production time and optimizing time cycle can be minimized too. A hefty amount of time had been allocated to research regarding this robot’s design as well as the time consumed researching to develop the prototype for this project. According to a production team at Glasfil Polymer Sdn. Bhd, they said that the time taken to transport defected item to the designated place took them the efficiency of the production line and this will cost them time and money. As we all know, even a minute wasted in production line will cost companies a fortune and by implementing the prototype from this design will fix this problem thus bringing any company to their maximum profit. From the design perspective, majority of the concept design ideas used to design this robot came from RootSaid, a reliable website source on the internet. A 3D design will be generated by using a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software namely Solidworks. Furthermore, the 3D design will be tested to gain useful information regarding the optimization of the design itself. In addition to that, a prototype will be developed prior completing the 3D design model in which it will retain similar dimension and weight according to the proposed design. Next, the prototype will experience several tastings in which it will prove to help obtaining additional and unexpected problems from the design and the result for this thesis will be the testing result of the prototype developed by using the design. Lastly, several discussions will be done after plethora of testing are completed. |
