This paper concentrates on the battery power storage (BESS) output in the peak shaving application to reduce the demand of high rise building with the integration of solar PV connected to grid. In particular during peak times, BESS technology contributes huge role in the supply of electricity and minimizing the demand value. The PV-Battery system connected to the grid can satisfy the energy consumption within peak hours by automatically dumping peak loads. Furthermore, battery charging control, maintenance and discharge operations and the functions of bidirectional DC-DC converter based on the load requirement are analysed. For various conditions, such as PV delivery, the PV system along with battery and charging data are simulated for the charging of energy storage. Load power demand of a high-rise residential building (SetiaTropika) is studied. MATLAB/Simulink software is used to model the system to generate certain data outcomes and perform peak shaving process. This paper focuses on the performance of battery energy storage system (BESS) in peak shaving application in conjunction with load demand data and grid connected PV system.
