Summary: | This thesis is about the development of ultrasonic measurement system particularly in measuring the level of oil inside a sealed RMU tank. RMU tank is used by TNB in the power distribution process. Generally, the RMU tank contain a circuit breaker which can be dangerously hazardous when it is exposed in open air environment. The circuit breaker may produce electrical arc that can ionize with surrounding air, to an extent it can cause major explosion. So in order to solve this problem, the circuit breaker is placed inside the RMU tank containing light machine oil to act as an insulator to the electrical arc produce. Another problem raises when the long term usage of the oil to quench the arc will cause the oil to be vaporised when it is in contact with the arc. So as time goes by the level of oil inside the tank will decrease. Consequently, a proper measuring system is needed in order to keep in track with the level of oil to make sure that the circuit breaker is immersed in the oil all the time. So an ultrasonic measurement system is introduced to measure the level of oil inside the tank. |
