The cellulose derived from the cellulose have great advantage that can be explore significantly especially as it proved in the catalyst separation. The several step on preparing the solid acid catalyst by inspired by cellulose through direct impregnation of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) with Ferric Sulfate (Fe2(SO4)3 solution before going for oven-drying and calcination process. Then, the catalyst was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Besides, the catalyst was tested through the esterification reaction using waste cooking oil (WCO). The different of catalyst loading was tested during esterification in order to determine the highest conversion percentage. With the value of 9% catalyst loading, it give the result of highest conversion value and lowest percentage of free fatty acid.
