Bauxite waste is considered as a new Fe- based oxygen carrier found to be used in chemical looping combustion (CLC). This project focuses on impregnation of bauxite waste with Al(NO3)3 and to study the effect of the concentrations of Al(NO3)3 on bauxite waste. The results obtained shows that Al(NO3)3 increase the reactivity rate and stability of bauxite waste. The combination of bauxite waste and Al(NO3)3 results in smaller particle size and more stable particle. The higher concentration of Al(NO3)3 in bauxite waste exhibits higher reactivity rate and smaller particle size compared to bauxite waste with lower concentration of Al(NO3)3. Moreover, it also observed the presence of Ti and Al2O3 in bauxite waste. These are the elements that can be found naturally in bauxite waste and can increase the reactivity rate and mechanical strength of bauxite waste as oxygen carrier in CLC process.
