Summary: | This thesis is a study on developing a flow harvester to harness the potential energy that is reserved in water flow. Hydroelectric generation is applied to tap into an underutilized water piping system in a household. In pursuit of creating low-cost renewable energy, an easy to construct flow harvester is the next step in green energy. Morphological matrix system is employed in the design process of the turbine, various design aspect was chosen and combined to produce the most optimal output in power generation. The output value was tested using SolidWorks under Flow Simulation to verify for the best output possible in theory. A working model was later constructed based on the design process. Later experiments were conducted to account for actual output values of the flow harvester. Different factors influencing the flow harvester were noted and a range of data was collected to form a conclusion. It was later concluded that water pressure plays a major role in determining the output of a flow harvester and the location of system implementation is negligible. The system is plausible to be implemented in a residential area with the appropriate setup. |
