Description
Summary:Nowadays, double pipe heat exchanger (DPHE) scored a high demand to discharge the heat and moisture out of the domestic application in HVAC industry. Nevertheless, the poor heat transfer rate of conventional working fluids put a limitation to the performance of heat exchanger itself. Application of nanomaterial technology in the thermal engineering led to the development of nanofluids which is delivered a better thermal network and rheological properties. In this study, performance investigation on double pipe heat exchanger (DPHE) operated with hybrid nanofluid have been conducted numerically with computational fluid dynamic software. The objective is to investigate the effects of concentration and flowrate of hybrid nanofluids on double pipe heat exchanger’s (DPHE) performance. Double pipe heat exchanger’s modelled in the PTC Parametric Creo 3.0 while simulation is in ANSYS Fluent. Utilizing the SIMPLE scheme, turbulence k-εpsilon model simulated along with water and five type different group of nanofluids; Al2O3, Al2O3 - TiO, Al2O3 - ZnO, Al2O3 - Cu and Al2O3 - Ag. The nanofluids’ volume fraction and flowrate considered as the parameters in this study. From the result analysis, hybrid nanofluids successfully proven to deliver a better convection and overall heat transfer coefficient in exchanged of minimal increase in pressure drop.
