Pritevaraj A/L Vengadasalam Kenaf Fiber Partcleboard SAC Sound absorbers FYP 2 SEM 1 2019 / 2020 One of the pollutions that have become a serious issue in our current world is sound pollution. Sound pollution occurs due to many constraints such as industrial works and also other unfortunate factors. There a few ways to prevent and to reduce this sound pollution which are the sound absorbers and sound insulators. In recent research’s, natural fibers are considered as the replacement for the currently used synthetic fibers. Natural fibers are taken into consideration because natural fibers can be obtained easily through plantations in our country. Natural fibers are not only easy to be obtained but is also cheaper than fiber glass materials, non – toxic, fully – biodegradable, lightweight and also because it’s safe for humans, animals and environment. This thesis discusses about the effects of different thickness on morphologies and acoustic properties of low density fiberboard (LDF) of kenaf fiber. Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) test were used in this study to determine the acoustic properties of Kenaf fiber. Board with a fixed density of 200kg/m³ and four different thickness of 12mm, 14mm, 16mm and 18mm were fabricated. Once the test were conducted, Kenaf fiber sample with a 12mm thickness is considered the optimum fiberboard with a SAC value of 0.99 at a frequency value of above 4400 Hz. From the sample of 18mm thickness, optimum sound absorption is shown below 3000 Hz. Meanwhile, for the other samples 12mm and 14mm shows a similar absorption trend and 16mm shows a slightly lower than the low thickness and slightly higher then 18mm samples. 2023-05-03T15:06:09Z 2023-05-03T15:06:09Z 2019-10 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/20570 application/pdf
