However, it is difficult to build a network with hardware to conduct an experiment due to the cost and time. eNSP is recommended as a solution to this problem. eNSP is a graphical network simulation platform provided by Huawei. In this study, BGP/MPLS VPN is proposed as a L3 VPN and VLL is proposed as a L2 VPN due to its capability and scalability. With eNSP interface with real hardware, it allows the result is more applicable in real life situation. Since, network simulator is restricted by limited hardware platforms which cannot meet the computational demands of the simulator. This thesis reports the experimental study on performance analysis of L2 and L3 VPN using combinations of eNSP and real hardware. The objectives of this thesis are to simulate Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) VPN Using Huawei’s eNSP with interface with real hardware and determine the performance of the latency in different type of pc, different type of layer and different size of network. Several experiments have been done to test the network performance with sending 10 same size of packet by using ping command (a tool measure the latency) .5 different size of packet which is 64, 423,782, 1141 and 1500 bytes is used to conduct the experiment. The factors used to conduct the experiment are virtual PC and real PC, L2 and L3 VPN and small network and big network. The results from all the ping have shown that different type of pc, different layer of VPN give a small range of different and different size of network give a big different range of different. Hence, the researcher has concluded that it has no impact in network performance with different type of PC and different layer of VPN, but is has impact in network performance with different size of network and researcher observes L3 cannot sent 1500 bytes of packet and will lose it. 2023-05-03T15:05:55Z 2023-05-03T15:05:55Z 2019-10 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/20566 en application/pdf |
