Geological conditions are the most dominant component, according to studies, catalyzing slope failure in many countries of the globe. However, in the scenario in Malaysia, due to flawed design, inadequate construction and non-maintenance of slopes correlating with human errors, most landslides occur. Statistics from Malaysia indicate that there were 71 instances with the largest landslides in 1996, followed by 68 instances in 1995. According to outcomes collected at Highland Towers (1993), the primary causes of failure were design inaccuracies, bad building supervision and insufficient drainage systems. Landslide is becoming a frequent risk in the urbanized mountainous regions of Cameron Highlands. For this reason, a few methods and approached have been developed using geographic information system (GIS). The three aims were to evaluate and classify assets such as schools and residences that are susceptible to landslides in order to take suitable and preventive measures, to determine the correlation between the asset of the populations and the amount of populations that have insurance protection from natural disasters and to do field surveys and questionnaires distributed to the locals. Geographical Information System (GIS) software was used to interpret the data collected. A DEM was generated and used for the study area and terrain attributes such as elevation at any point, slope and aspect were determined. Landslides hazard map will help the community to determine the type of insurance coverage needed for the sake of safety of their assets such as house, cars and farm. The research findings will be crucial for the community's future planning to decrease life loss and damage to property or assets. 2023-05-03T15:05:32Z 2023-05-03T15:05:32Z 2019-10 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/20558 application/pdf |
