Summary: | In our daily routine life, we use the road as our main way for us to move around. Whether we like it or not, traffic light has been a part of our daily routine life to make our life easier and much safer than before. Traffic light is used to make our roads safer and faster without harming us as road users. Traffic light pre-emption uses the same concept as the regular traffic light but it also includes interruptions to convert the traffic light to what the system is supposed to achieved. Basically, the pre-emption system is mainly developed for emergency vehicles to ensure they reach their destination faster to reduce the number of death due to late medical assistance. The system operates by using Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter and receiver to send the pre-empt signal to enter the pre-emption mode. When the pre-emption mode is entered, the normal traffic light changed the specific traffic light to green to allow the emergency vehicles to pass through the traffic light while others turn red. The specific traffic light remains green as the transmitter and receiver transmit and receive the pre-empt signal. The traffic light returned to the normal traffic light sequence when the signal is unreachable for both the transmitter and receiver. The systems only work within the radius of the transmitter and receiver. The systems will not operate when the signal is unavailable. |
