High number of traffic volume can leads to excessive sound that can affect community comfort and health. To control and mitigate the noise contaminant, this study was conducted to determine the noise pollution and traffic volume at Puchong residential area. The noise level need to be compared with the standard limit set by Department Of Environment, Malaysia. Then, investigate the relationship between noise pollution with traffic volume. The research was carried out on two intersections chosen nearby residential areas. The noise and traffic volume studies on each intersection were measured for 3 days of weekdays and 2 days of weekends. The duration of noise study was 1.5 hours and traffic volume study was 3 hours, started simultaneously. The noise levels were then compared with the standard limit by DOE. Questionnaires were distributed to the residents nearby. The results found out that there is a high noise level and traffic volume during the morning and evening in both intersections. Besides, both intersections noise levels exceed the standard limit, which is 60 dB(A). It had been proven that the excessive sound produce by some vehicles will leads to noise pollution.
