Therefore, a vast research has been initiated to create efficient electrodes to respond supercapacitors growing demand. Graphene based composites were acknowledged for supercapacitors as the most significant groups of free standing electrodes. Polyaniline (PANI) is a well-known attractive electrode material because of its elevated theoretical capacity, ease of synthesis, low cost and desirable chemical stability but it lacks high power density and long term stability because of its low conductivity, low surface area and huge volume changes during the release or doping of ions. In this project, the design and synthesis of graphene based polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposite coated electrode was tested for supercapacitor applications. PANI’s composition with carbon materials particularly graphene provides an excellent solution to overcome the weak characteristics of PANI as an electrode for supercapacitor. The characterization of structural and electrochemical properties of the composite electrode was carried out to assess the specific capacitance, energy density, current density, power density and charge/discharge capacitance.
