Description
Summary:This paper studies the impact of trade liberalization on employment growth in India from 1991 to 2020. The results show that the increase in export increased the growth of employment in both long-run and short-run which shows that there is a positive relationship between export and employment growth within long-run and short-run period in India. Whereas as imports increase, the growth of employment decreased in India in the long and short-run. Meanwhile, the relationship between employment growth and real output growth is also negative in both long-run and short-run. This proposes that international trade may not be the primary driver of employment generation for India.
