Subculturing and Screening for Cellulase Expression in Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus And Penicillium citrinum
Fungi have been frequently used in the industrial sector to produce enzymes. Apart from amylase, cellulases is one of the most common enzymes released by fungi. This enzyme's functionality has been credited with a great deal of advancement in the world, particularly in the medical field. Hence...

Hence, the aim of this study is to subculture and screen Aspergillus and Penicillium species for the expression of cellulase. Four types of fungi were used in this experiment such as Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium citrinum. Culturing was the method used to revive the fungi from the glycerol stock. After five days, the fungi were then sub-cultured into a CMC plate for screening. Some of the sub-cultures did not grow and two of them have grown very big until it reaches the wall, causing the sub-cultures unsuitable for screening because the size of halo could be larger than the size of the colony. Thus, there is no results for this experiment due to the inability to obtain fungi with proper growth.
