Summary: | Declining number of students in Science stream is quite alarming. Employing traditional method in era Industrial Revolution 4.0 could become a challenge for students to understand the basic conceptual knowledge, such as the elements in periodic table. The aim of this study is to develop an application named iPeriodic App that utilized Augmented Reality and test the application in learning process through activities and questionnaire before and after the applications. A total of 50 Science students were involved. The application was developed using Vuforia 7.5 and Blender Studio software which incorporate with details
properties of each atoms, application and reaction. For the activity form, the students were required to use and explore the AR-based learning tool by themselves. They can use different markers to experience the learning process using AR technology. 86% students showed difficulties using paper-based periodic table while 62% students were strongly agree that the AR application is very effective in chemistry learning. AR has the potential to be used as learning tools to help students improve in chemistry subjects and other topics in chemistry syllabus. |
