Description
Summary:Concentrations of Ni in soil samples of Kota Samarahan were investigated in this study. First of all, top soil samples (0-20 cm) were taken from sub-urban areas of Kota Samarahan and Muara Tuang. The samples were then heated using oven and ground to get homogeneity. After that the sample were digested using US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) method 3050b. After acid digestion, the concentrations of Ni were analyzed by using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The mean concentrations of Ni in soil of UNIMAS were significantly difference between mean concentrations of Ni in soil of Muara Tuang. The concentrations of Ni were ranged from 0.63 to 21.0 mg/kg, with a mean concentration of 5.16 mg/kg. Besides that, pH, organic matter contents and the clay contents in the soil also been analyzed. The output of correlations between the soil properties and Ni concentration in soil of Kota Samarahan were analyzed by using SPSS. Most of the Pearson Correlation coefficient showing a negative value indicates that it is a negative correlation. Moreover, Igeo values calculated were also indicates that the soils of Kota Samarahan are uncontaminated.
