Electronics Nuclear engineering The critical condition of water in most farms is one of the biggest concerns for most farmers in aquaculture industry. The main aim of this dissertation is to study the factors that affect the water quality in farms, thus focus on developing a real-time monitoring system for water quality based on IoT. This will ensure a healthy and good performance of the fish. The water quality monitoring system is built to help farmers in maintaining the water conditions in their farms to overcome the problems such as the aquatic weeds that will cause in taste and odour problem, the deterioration of water quality in coastal aquaculture due to the industrial wastes, discharge of untreated sewage, domestic and agricultural, the sensitivity of fish to temperature changes which affect their immune systems as well as the primary wastes such as fish food and faeces. To approach this project, a small scale water quality monitoring system is designed and developed to better assist the farmers. Therefore, the core controller used is Arduino UNO and two sensors are interfaced to assess the physical and chemical parameters of the water. The measured parameters are temperature and pH. Thus, three water samples are taken from the pipe, UNIMAS lake and drain to be tested. The collected data from the sensors can be viewed on the window application through bluetooth module.Farmers in rural areas will be benefited from this project as it provides offline solution by using bluetooth without the need of internet connectivity.
