Description
Summary:Information on feeding behaviour of Javan myna (Acridotheres javanicus) was obtained by observing their feeding activities for six days of sampling starting from November 2013 until February 2014. The study was conducted by using visual observation which is focal sampling and scan sampling in Kuching City, Sarawak. A total of 125 observations of focal sampling and 136 observations of scan sampling were recorded. The feeding activities of A. javanicus were observed in three sessions for each day which include morning session (0900-1200), afternoon session (1200-1500), and evening session (1500-1800). Both focal and scan sampling recorded that the number of A. javanicus seen on ground searching for food during morning and evening session was higher compared to the afternoon session. An ethogram chart was constructed to describe each behaviour of A. javanicus displayed during feeding such as walking, jumping, hopping, gleaning, running, short flying, voicing, looking around, and feather fluffing. A kinematic diagram was constructed to show the transition frequencies of each behaviours displayed by A. javanicus during feeding.
