Summary: | This research aimed to prepare electrically conductive films from native sago starch and characterize the physico-chemical properties of poIythiophene/starch-based (PTh/starch) film. Native sago starch is a locally produced biopolymer which is cheap, abundant and biodegradable. In this study, PTh/starch-based thin films were successfully prepared by a chemical oxidative deposition method by undergoing a polymerization process using dichloromethane (CH2C12)/acetonitrile (CH3CN) as binary organic solvent system, iron (III) chloride (FeCl3) as oxidant and N-cetyl-N, N, N-trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as
cationic surfactant. The surface morphology and the composition of the PTh/starch films were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Electron Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX). The electrical conductivity of PTh/starch films was determined using a multi-meter. |
