Evaluations Of Three Termiticides (Alpha-Cypermethrin, Imidacloprid, And Deltamethrin) Against Coptotermes Curvignathus (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae)

Coptotermes curvignathus (Rhinotermitidae) is commonly known as pest of important agricultural crop such as oil palm, sugar-cane, rubber trees, pineapple plant, and forest plantation trees. 1t is also the primary termite species that capable of killing any plant in agriculture sector. As an example...

As an example, immature palms were killed as of damaged to the apical meristem at the base of the spear, while mature oil palm were damaged to the trunk. Synthetic termiticides have been used for a long time. But soon it was realised that chlorinated, persistent type of insecticides posed a great hazard to environment and living organisms. Commercial insecticides have been widely used to control pest over the world. Therefore, alpha-cypermethrin, imidacloprid and deltamethrin have been used in this research and applied into C. curvignathus. Evaluation was done for 48 hours with the selected termiticides at different concentrations. At the end of evaluation, probit analysis was obtained to define the lethal concentration toxicity LCso and LCoo, From the present study, the rankings for C. curvignathus from highest to lowest lethal concentrations were: alpha-cypermethrin > imidacloprid > deltamethrin. Hence, deltamethrin shows the highest toxicity against C. curvignathus in this experiment.
