Summary:A study on fish assemblages offour different microhabitats was conducted at Matang Wildlife Centre on the 14th until 20th January 2017. Sample collection will be done by a combination of passive (minnow traps, bubu) and active (scoop nets), while the data collection included the quantitative (river profile and water quality) and qualitative data (habitat characteristic). The quantitative data were measured at each microhabitat included width (m), depth (cm), and velocity (cm/s). While for water quality parameters included temperature eC), pH, dissolved oxygen (mgIL) and turbidity (NTIJ). A total of 16 Species from seven Families offish was recorded in all ofthe selected microhabitat. Microhabitat 1 (Ml) shows the most diverse in term of fish assemblages with 12 species recorded, while Microhabitat 4 (M4) recorded only 2 species. The diversity indices were used to determine the species diversity, species richness and species evenness among the fish assemblages. While the analysis of P~rson Correlation R test and One-Way ANOVA were used to analyse the quantitative data. The application of Index Biotic Integrity (IBI) was used to give scores to qualitative data recorded from Stream Habitat Assessment. From quantitative and qualitative analysis, factors that are most likely affecting fish assemblages are the River Profile (width (m), depth (cm) and velocity (mls), and Turbidity (ntu).
