Description
Summary:Clinachantus nutans L. is from the family Acanthanceaea with high value in traditional medicine field. Many people in Thailand have explored the uses of C. nutans as alternative medication for some illness and infections such as insect bite, herpes infection and anti-inflammatory drug. The best protocol of sterilization for C. nutans is by using Cholox 15% with 10 minutes of time exposure and further sterilization by using 0.2% Benomyl with I hour of immersion. This protocol was used in plant regeneration through direct and also indirect organogenesis. In direct organogenesis, effect of different concentration of BAP with combination of IBA showed shoot growth with best concentration of 1.0 mg/L BAP showing highest number of shoot growth. For indirect organogenesis the 2, 4-D concentration of 1.0 mg/L showed highest percentage of callus formation. In shoot regeneration and callus induction, many bacterial contaminations were observed. Further studies on microbial infection should be done for C. nutans.
