Description
Summary:Hombills is a bird that can instantly be recognized based on their unique characteristics and they ranges from Africa to India and throughout Asia. Out of 54 species in this world, eight species is found in Borneo including rhinoceros hornbill, Buceros rhinoceros. Measurement for eight parameters of B. rhinoceros specimens were taken from Sarawak Museum and Bogor Zoological Museum, Bogor; 18 individuals from Sarawak and 11 individuals from Kalimantan, Borneo. Discriminant Function Analysis (DFA) computed using SPSS Version 24 and Randomization Test a script written in R in R software Version 3.3 for data analysis. Two parameters were selected with highest discriminant function, are bill depth (BD) and tarsus (TR). After both parameters were randomized, it shows that there are significance differences between the two sites. Possible reasons for these scenario, would be cryptic species formation, non-testing of sexual differentiation between male and female, insufficient data and discrepancies of measurements.
