This study examines the family awareness on neglect and emotional abuse against elderly parents. In particular, this study examines the views of children either taking care of aged parents is considered as a burden or a responsibility. In addition, this study is also conducted to identify whether the attitude and behavior of children or aged parents caused the neglect and emotional abuse of parents. A total of 14 respondents, comprising seven aged parents and seven children, who lived together as a family made the samples. The method used is a face-to-face interview. The study found family does have the knowledge and awareness on issues of neglect and emotional abuse of aged parents. However their knowledge and awareness about this issue is still lacking because they are not aware of the risk of this issue in their lives. Next, the study found the children appreciates the contributions and sacrifices of parents; meanwhile parents want to spend their life with their children.
