Summary:Michelia chamapaca L. is belong to the family ofMagnoliaceae, commonly known as cempaka and it is native to tropical and sUbtropical South and Southeast Asia. Terminalia mantaly H. or commonly known as umbrella tree is member of Combrataceae plant family, and it is native to Madagascar. Both of the species are popular landscapes plants and various parts of the plants were used in preparation of medicine. The objectives of this study were to assess the effect of cuttings length on rooting propensity, and to assess effect ofrooting hormone on rooting propensity ofM. champaca and T.mantaly. An experiment was done in a Green house, East Campus of Unimas. Two type of cutting length was uses which are single node cuttings and multiple node cuttings that were treated with different concentration of Indole Butyric Acid (IBA) i.e. 300, 500, 800, mgIL and 0 ppm (control). For second trial of T.mantaly, multiple node cuttings treated with 1000 mgIL IBA was used. The results showed that only 6.67% multiple node cuttings of T.mantaly treated with 1000 mgIL IBA produced root while no rooting in other treatments. While for Mchampaca no cutting was rooted. Overall cutting treated with high concentration of IBA retained leaf longer compared to the lower IBA.
