The 6 monitoring was done by measuring the water level and sediment depth for the chosen stretch 7 daily during the period of study. The variation in the mean sediment depth where there will 8 always be some deposition indicates that a more suitable design criterion to be adopted is 9 based on limit deposition. Generally the total mean volume of sediment increased during the 10 period of study with a much quicker rate of sediment accumulation with shorter duration 11 between rainy days. This shows that rain actually brought sediments into the observed stretch 12 of sewer. Modelling using existing approaches in the literature to model deposition and 13 erosion has been used to model the sedimentation processes in the observed sewer and had 14 shown satisfactory results.
