| Summary: | This research refers to a study on the abuse of substances that is 'air ketum' among youth. The problem often gets attention of the local community. This qualitative study used face to face interview as a data collection. This method enables researcher to be closer to the participants of the study in which researcher can gather in-depth information as to achieve the objectives of the study. This study aims to examine and explore the experiences of youths who consume 'air ketum' in their daily 'lives. The study involved two participants who abuse 'air ketum'. The findings of this study
indicate factors that motivate the participants to abuse 'air ketum' are pathological environment, the influence of peers and own family situations. This study also focuses on the impacts of the abuse of 'air ketum' on these participants. The main impacts related to mental, emotional and physical changes; changes on their commitment to work and study and; changes on participant family relation. |
