Summary:Liturgical dances within the church context are meant for praising God or lifting up praises to God during a church service. It is also known as praise and worship, a form of worship to God. The liturgical dance is practiced within the Protestant denomination. From my experience as a liturgical dancer, most of the dances are taken from the book Bersorak soraklah bagi Tuhan by Magrate Yap (1990). The purpose of this research is to create a new composition that will accompany three dance-patterns: Injil Sepenuh, Perjanjian, and Panji. The bulk of research data collection is from qualitative method that involves primary and secondary data. Meanwhile the quantitative method comes from pre-test which is conducted to specifically choose the dance patterns, and the Psalm’s text to be included as lyrics for the composition. Most of the research material is based on exploration and experiences as a praise and worship dance. Song analysis that accompany the dance are analysed for its chord progression and use as a guideline for harmony and structure. Musical transcriptions are conducted to find suitable chord progression and motive that will apply into the composition. The selected Psalm text became the motive that influenced the original motive such as rhythm and melody that was created by the researcher. “Praising”, the title of my work encompasses praise and worship and the shofar instrument. The exploration of three liturgy dance patterns was conducted in Kota Samarahan church in Sarawak. The outcome of this work is to explore the tempo, melody, harmony, sacred music context, and the application of Psalms text as lyric for my composition. The combination of the elements: dance with shofar (a blowing instrument of an ancient Middle East era), Western orchestra, vocal, and choir was successful
