Description
Summary:This study was focus on the identification of flora specifically on trees species of the peat swamp forest that conducted at UNIMAS Arboretum, Kota Samarahan with the establishment of 25 permanent subplots with 20 m x 20 m size of each subplot. All the trees that have diameter ~ 5 cm at diameter breast height (dbh) were identified and measured. Total of 1063 individual trees were recorded with 115 species belong to 80 genera from 38 families was identified. Subplot 21 has highest number of individuals with 72 trees and subplot 24 had the least number with 4 trees. A total estimated above ground biomass (T AGB) of 1063 individual trees are 147071.39 kg. Palaquium walsllraefolillm is the dominant species with total 165 individual trees, while Euphorbiaceae is the highest genus with 7 genera. Pandanlls sp. and Zingiber sp. also commonly found in the study area. Euphorbiaceae had the highest Family Importance Value (FlY) among the 38 families which is 0.83. Based on the diameter class of the species recorded, this area is considered as a disturbed logged over peat swamp forest and it is in the process of reestablishment of the ecosystem. Further study is needed to obtain more comprehensive data of the establishment of the disturbed peat swamp forest such as growth, succession and mortality ofthe species.
