Diversity of Weed Species from Different Stages of Oil Palm Plantations in Peatland Areas

The diversity of different stages of oil palm plantations was investigated in Maju Gemilang Oil Palm Plantation at Gedong area. The Shannon – Weiner Diversity Index was 2.34, 1.57, 1.93 for 1, 3, and 7 years old oil palm plantation respectively. The most dominant species for 1 year – old plantation was Pteridium esculentum (G. Forst) with SDR = 0.508 (Summed Dominance Ratio), while Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott Bedd with (SDR = 0.7591) for 3 year – old plantation and Pteridium esculentum (G. Forst) with (SDR=0.3086) for 7 year – old plantation. The estimated carbon stock was 4.998 tonne/ha, 1.014 tonne/ha and 1.911 tonne/ha for 1, 3, and 7 – year old oil palm plantation.
