Description
Summary:Studies on tidepool communities along Sarawak coastal area are scarce. Therefore this study was conducted at a rocky shore at Pandan beach, Lundu in order to enhance our knowledge on tidepool communities especially on the diversity of phytoplankton assemblages in Sarawak coastal area. Water samples for phytoplankton study and nutrient analysis were collected from tidepools (according to the zonation of middle, high and splash) in rocky shore of Pandan Beach, Lundu. The assemblages of phytoplankton community were identified up to the generic level and counted according to each genus. Coscinodiscus, Navicula, Achnanthes, Nitzschia, Cylindrotheca, Pleurosigma and Amphiprora were the dominant genera of diatoms found in both sampling date. The genera of Dinoflagellate found were Alexandrium, Scrippsiella and Prorocentrum. All selected tidepools shows variation in distribution phytoplankton genera.
