Description
Summary:Nutrients play all impOl1ani ro le in enhanci ng plant growth in the urban environmenl. GPEFB compost is hIgh in organic nutri ents and can act as soi l conditioner. NPK 15:15:15 provides sufficient amount of inorganic nutrients for plunt ' s growth. The morphological and physiological grov.1h of S. Campa/1 l1/olllnl treated with OPEFB compost and inorgamc feJiiJize r arc compared. Seed lings planted with OPEfB compost as potting medium showed a better result compared to contro l treatment and Inorganic fe rtili zer trealment.OPEFB corn post signifi can Ll y (p<O.05) increased the height , leaf area, photosynthesis rate and transpiration rate of S. campal1ulafulI1 seedl in gs. In the OPEFB compost treallnent, the average he ight of seed ling was 84.67crn with leaf area of 8.2Icrn 2 , and photosynthetic and transp iration rate o f 13.92 Ilmoi CO:? m 1S-1 and 4.34 ~lrno i H20 m ~,, I respectively. The incorporation of OPEFB corn post as potting medium lO plants was beneficial as the proccs~d organi c mate ria ls contain nat ural nutrlent sources thai are mo re environmental fnendly compa red to the che mical inorga ni c fe rtil izer. T he usage of OPEFB is the re fore high ly recommended for urban planting to enhance plam growth in the harsh urban en vironment.
