Summary: | A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of short period of accelerated ageing on storage and germination of Cuc:/(mismelo. L seeds. After seeds we re placed in dessicalors to age for 5 days at 40 - 42'C anu IO O~I) relative humidity, they were put in air - tight nJ es , and stored in refrigerator (3 -5°C), ambient room (28-30 r) and cold r00111 (_12°e) for one week, and evalualed. Accelerated ageing caused a marked decreased ill g~rOlinati n of C. meto seeds in 4 days and poor seedling growth after one week of slOrage . The ddrimenla l period of germinat ion for C. melD was at 1134.0 1 hours, which are 4 7 days and 6 hours after accelerared ageing and
619.77 hours (25 days and 19 hours) when seeds are stored following ageing. (lence, the ideal slO g.~ condition
for storing C. melD was the refrigerator with 3-5°C and a coo l environment of 40-50% relative humidity. |
