Summary:Eusideroxylon zwagerii T & B and Potoxylon malaganggai Symm are both Belian, an ironwood of Sarawak, which comes from the family of Lauraceae. A total protein and total genomic DNA studies have been carried out on both species to identify the differences in term of protein analysis and molecular approach. The total genomic DNA for both species are being extracted successfully using Hexadecyltrimethyl ammoniumbromide (CTAB) based methods. However, the PCR analysis cannot be done, due to the failure of the next extraction. Meanwhile, protein extraction by trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitation method has been done to obtain the crude protein samples. In addition, the Sodium-Dedocyl-Sulfate (SDS) page electrophoresis was performed to get the total protein, but there was any good result or data to present. Therefore, the studies on both species were not completed. Thus, a further research on both species as mentioned above should be continued in the future, using the right protocol to give a better result.
