Besides that, this study also investigated listening comprehension in Bahasa Malaysia and English based on students' first, second and third language. Data on Primary 1 students (N = 866) from 11 government schools. A Kruskal Wallis Test showed that the students' performance in listening comprehension in Bahasa Malaysia and English based on the students' ethnicity groups. Result shows that there was a significant difference in students' performance in listening comprehension in Bahasa Malaysia. The difference was because of some students from ethnics groups could answer the all the questions correctly while some could not answer the questions at all. Besides that, there was no significant difference in students' performance in listening comprehension in English because students from all the ethnic groups obtained consistent results. Not only that, the One-Sample T -test showed that the students could perform better in listening tasks in Bahasa Malaysia compared to the listening tasks in English. Moreover, the findings discussed the reasons that contribute to the differences between students' performance in Bahasa Malaysia and English in listening comprehension.
