Despite its significance, documentation of Dayak dance remains limited, posing a risk to its preservation. This research aims to safeguard Dayak traditional dancing by utilizing Motion Capture (MoCap) technology for digital documentation and conservation. Employing a hybridized qualitative research methodology alongside MoCap experimentation, this study focuses on Rejang Be'uh, a Bidayuh dance, as a case study for cultural preservation. The findings reveal that MoCap of pair dances suffers from instability, with skeleton glitches and twisting affecting the accuracy of the captured data more than solo dances. To mitigate these issues, keyframe editing proves essential, allowing for adjustments in timing and spatial relationships to enhance the realism or stylization of the dance representation. This research provides valuable insights for both the Dayak dance communities and the field of animation, contributing to the preservation and accurate representation of traditional dance forms. 2024-09-25 Proceeding PeerReviewed text en http://ir.unimas.my/id/eprint/46944/5/cover.pdf Liew, Hui Chee and Jong, Sze Joon and Connie Lim, Keh Nie (2024) DIGITAL PRESERVATION OF DAYAK TRADITIONAL DANCE USING MOTION CAPTURE TECHNOLOGY : A CASE STUDY.
