The clay layer acts as an insulation barrier to prevent leachate from interfering with the structure of the soil and groundwater. Bentonite properties that have a low level of diffusion is shown to be effective in controlling this problem. However, bentonite has the disadvantage of high shrinkage properties. The recommended hydraulic conductivity of clay liner should be of 1x10-7 cm/s. In this study, the usage of Perlis marine clay which has elements similar to bentonite is studied. Differences in the mixture of 10, 15 and 20% of bentonite and clay were carried out. The range of hydraulic conductivity of samples in this research are between 9.13 x 10-7 to 9.83x10-8 cm/s. Studies on soil classification, the level of water absorption and shrinkage levels were used as study guides. Through the study, the use of 20% clay prove the level of hydraulic conductivity of marine clay is low but did not reach the level of bentonite.
