Azo dyes are the dye used by the majority of the textile industries. The treatment options for this azo dye are physical, chemical and biological methods. The aim of this study was to assess the performance of dye degradation in the dye synthetic wastewater using anaerobic-aerobic and aerobic sequencing batch reactors. Both the reactors were used in batch mode for 24 hours cycle. The reaction time of the cycle time was divided into anaerobic and aerobic in the combined anaerobic-aerobic reactor and fully aerobic in the aerobic reactor. The other operational parameters are 1000 to 1400 mg/l influent Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) including 200 mg/l contributed by Remazol Brilliant Pink, Remazol Brilliant Green, Remazol Yellow and Remazol Violet as color concentrations. Under these conditions maximum color removal was achieved in the anaerobicaerobic reactor compared to aerobic sequencing batch reactor. In COD reduction, maximum 85% was attained in anaerobic-aerobic reactor and 98% was obtained in aerobic sequencing batch reactor. 2013-11-14T07:08:24Z 2013-11-14T07:08:24Z 2012-06-18 Working Paper p. 81 - 85 978-967-5760-11-2 http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/29815 en Proceedings of the The 2nd International Malaysia-Ireland Joint Symposium on Engineering, Science and Business 2012 (IMiEJS2012); Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)
