In this study a novel concept of dual fuelling has been investigated on a single cylinder, four stroke diesel engine with two types of supplementary oxygenates, ethanol and diethyl ether (DEE), and diesel fuel. The experiments were carried out based on Combination of Fumigation and Blending technique which is named as CFB. Diethyl ether was fumigated and the main fuel was the optimum blend of ethanol and diesel fuel. Evaluation of the engine performance and emissions characteristics resulted in reduced NOx and smoke emissions by 10.1% and 14.1% respectively when introducing 10 %(vol) Ethanol as the optimum ratio of blending with diesel fuel. Fumigation of diethyl ether by CFB technique further reduced NOx and smoke emissions by 31% and 16.2% respectively at full load condition. 2012-07-18T04:15:38Z 2012-07-18T04:15:38Z 2012-02-27 Working Paper http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/20402 en Proceedings of the International Conference on Applications and Design in Mechanical Engineering 2012 (ICADME 2012) Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan Mekatronik |
