However, the filter cleaning mechanisms by which deposited cake is removed from the filter surface are still not fully understood. A mathematical model that is capable of simulating the time-dependent build-up of dust filter cakes, on the surface of filter, including the calculation of the corresponding pressure drop and the thickness of filter cake which formed during the filtration is proposed. The model also simulates the regeneration of the filter medium and predicts the residual pressure drop after regeneration. This paper focuses on the first basic mechanism of regeneration, the forming and the detachment of the dust filter cake.
