Alternative Filtering Procedure for the Partial Discharge Signal in Solid Dielectric Insulation Using Indirect Approach

This paper describes the alternative method in filtering the sample signal of partial discharge within the ultrasonic range from 20 kHz to 100 kHz. The filtering process is known as indirect approach. The approach considers the unwanted noises such as the noise produced by the surrounding, the noise...

Description
Summary:This paper describes the alternative method in filtering the sample signal of partial discharge within the ultrasonic range from 20 kHz to 100 kHz. The filtering process is known as indirect approach. The approach considers the unwanted noises such as the noise produced by the surrounding, the noise from the equipment, etc. during the recording of the partial discharge signal. The sample signals were analyzed using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) so that the noises can be seen clearly and analyze the effect of the noises towards the sample signal. Multiple conditions are varies in obtaining sample signals taken during the recording. Although the approach is simple but it may effect the whole analysis of the discharges signals if the unwanted noises are not filtered from the sample signals.
