Hanani WLAN Microstrip antenna transmission line model Conference Venue : UniKL MFI With rapid progress in telecommunications, small dimension antennas or compact antennas become necessary. Along with the reduction in size of electronics equipment, thanks to the development of integrated circuits, the demand of compact antennas has increased rapidly, especially in mobile telecommunications system and WLAN applications. Even though the dimensions are reduced, the not be significantly degraded. The microstrip antenna is the most recommended antenna for small equipment, especially when a built-in antenna is required. Theoretically, when the dimension of the antenna is reduced, the efficiency and the performance of the antenna will decrease. How much the performance decrease depends on how small the antenna is. With regard to this problem, the objective of this paper is to design a compact microstrip patch antenna at 2.4 GHz for WLAN applications in order to see the effect of the rformance. Analysis method used to design the antenna is to apply the transmission line model to determine the length and width of the antenna, where the first antenna is the size of 39mm long and 47mm wide and the second design produces antenna with 28.6mm long and 37.7mm wide. A comparison in terms of size and performance is made between two designed antennas and a trade-off must then be realized paper, a compact microstrip patch antenna is designed and IE3D software. Its performance is then measured in terms of its gain, bandwidth and polarization. Along with the antenna miniaturization, several important parameters found to decline, although the two antennas are still able to maintain performance and received good level of efficiency at a frequency of 2.4 GHz for WLAN applications. 2013-11-20T03:12:25Z 2013-11-20T03:12:25Z 2013-11-20 http://ir.unikl.edu.my/jspui/handle/123456789/4627
