It was claimed by the vendor that the performance of this new standard was much better than the previous WLAN standard which were 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n that use 2.4GHz frequency spectrum. The theoretical maximum throughput claimed to be achieved by IEEE802.11n 5GHz was up to 600Mbps which was almost 11 times the throughput of standard 802.11g. This research was conducted to study its performance with some modified topology and network environment that may be used in real life application. It was set up in repeater mode to extend the coverage of the originating signal. The repeater mode was the topology used for this research. It will be used to study the topology’s performance since in real life networking, repeater was one of the alternatives and solution for extending network coverage when cabling seems to be not a good choice. Furthermore, the network layer used during the study was IPv6 instead of standard IPv4 end-to-end. IPv6 was chosen because of its future potential in network addressing implementation. It can provide up to 340 decillion Internet Protocol (IP) addresses compared to 4.3 billion by IPv4. The test bed of the research was 802.11n 5GHz using repeater mode on IPv6 environment. The study will benefit to wireless network community for future reference and further implementation. 2012-05-22T12:17:33Z 2012-05-22T12:17:33Z 2012-05-22 http://ir.unikl.edu.my/jspui/handle/123456789/1047 |
