Summary:A series of benzoic acid derivatives were synthesize via alkylation reaction of methyl- 4-hydroxybenzoate with 1-bromononane and 1-bromotetradecane to form 4- (nonyloxy)benzoic acid and 4-(tetradecloxy)benzoic acid respectively. These two compounds were heavily subjected to spectroscopic analysis which are Fourier Transform–Infra Red spectroscopy (FTIR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
